{"id":12633,"date":"2018-08-07T22:25:32","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T22:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.healthymale.com\/squad\/?p=12633"},"modified":"2018-08-07T22:25:32","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T22:25:32","slug":"my-ongoing-struggle-with-gout-prescribed-medications-and-diet-by-kyle-rao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.healthymale.com\/blog\/wellness\/my-ongoing-struggle-with-gout-prescribed-medications-and-diet-by-kyle-rao\/","title":{"rendered":"My Ongoing Struggle with Gout Prescribed Medications and Diet by Kyle Rao"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Currently, I\u2019m prescribed allopurinol 100mg and Mitigare (Colchicine) 0.6mg for gout.\u00a0\u00a0 I was told by my arthritis doctor to take the allopurinol daily and the Mitigare for Gout outbreaks.\u00a0\u00a0 My Uric acid level was about a 7.<\/p>\n<p>I made the mistake of taking allopurinol when I felt the onset of gout occurring as this actually sped up my flare-up.\u00a0\u00a0 My research told me that I need to take this product daily, and it can take weeks for the drug to take effect.\u00a0\u00a0 Now I\u2019m not the type of person to take prescription medications daily, as I concern with the side effects these medications can have on my body.\u00a0\u00a0 With the allopurinol not working as effectively as I wanted it to, I switched to the Colchicine to tackle the pain.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t truly convinced this product worked for me either after taking it for several days.\u00a0\u00a0 To further tackle pain, I attempted to take some prescription pain medication I had on hand for a back surgery, and this didn\u2019t work either.\u00a0 I was fed up and needed a better solution.\u00a0 After trial and error over a few years, I found that the best remedies listed below work for me.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>(healthy male product) M cream?<\/li>\n<li>A warm bath with Epsom salt<\/li>\n<li>Sleeping is the hardest thing.\u00a0 No bed sheets or blankets near my feet.\u00a0 I use M cream on my foot and put a sock gently offer the throbbing toe foot.\u00a0 In this case, the problem was my left foot.<\/li>\n<li>Ice (was neutral) needed to be on constant ice but found pain increased once my foot was off the ice.<\/li>\n<li>Breathe normally.\u00a0 Stay calm.\u00a0 \u201cthere were moments I thought about cutting my toe off to end the suffering\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Massage the toe \u201c I feel some relief but the pain comes back as sometimes more intense after the massage, so I tend to stay away from doing this.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now I found that diet was also going to be an important part of my life, so I cut out the following and replaced with alternate foods and beverages.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No Red Meat (eat chicken instead)<\/li>\n<li>Eat lots of fruits and vegetables<\/li>\n<li>They say to stay away from alcohol, but I know this can be tough for some of you. So from my experience, I found the following worked best for me.\u00a0 If I was to have a few drinks or cocktails, I generally stay away from microbrews and dark colored alcohol.\u00a0\u00a0 I found that light beer and white or clear liquor was ok.<\/li>\n<li>Coffee (was neutral) didn\u2019t help nor cause additional pain.<\/li>\n<li>Cherry Juice was ok but didn\u2019t reap the benefits as quickly as I wanted.<\/li>\n<li>Ginger (Works Great) excellent natural remedy.<\/li>\n<li>Tumeric (Pretty good)\u00a0 I felt swelling go down within a few hours after taking this spice.<\/li>\n<li>Soda (Stay away during flare-ups)\u00a0 stick to lots of H2O only<\/li>\n<li>Fish oil (I take this vitamin daily anyways, but my flare-ups still occurred)<\/li>\n<li>Apple cider Vinegar (Works Great)<\/li>\n<li>Lemon juice (so so)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of all the gout remedies out on the market, I found the healthy male product worked best for me.\u00a0\u00a0 I Hope my research helps some of you out during your gout attack and good luck with your recovery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Currently, I\u2019m prescribed allopurinol 100mg and Mitigare (Colchicine) 0.6mg for gout.\u00a0\u00a0 I was told by my arthritis doctor to take the allopurinol daily and the Mitigare for Gout outbreaks.\u00a0\u00a0 My Uric acid level was about a 7.
