The CDC\u2019s 2017 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/diabetes\/data\/statistics-report\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Diabetes Statistics Report <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">states: \u201cThere are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/diabetes\/pdfs\/data\/statistics\/national-diabetes-statistics-report.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">30.3 million people<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the United States with diabetes. That\u2019s close to 1 in 10 people. Among all these people living with diabetes, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/diabetes\/pdfs\/data\/statistics\/national-diabetes-statistics-report.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">90 to 95 percent<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have type 2 diabetes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Avoid these food and drinks:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soda, teas and fruit drinks that are made with sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">White bread on sandwiches<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pasta<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cake, donuts, cookies, pies, bagels<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sugary cereals<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>1. Game time snack table<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For game time, set up your snack area with a small dish of nuts and a plate of carrots with a container of low carb cream cheese dip. A few strips of bacon will please the meat lovers in your house. Then add a plate of almond poppy seed crackers topped with some cheddar or swiss cheese. For dessert, top strawberries with whipped cream. Drink coffee or diet soda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>2. Hiking treats<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For an invigorating outside hike, pack\u00a0 crunchy apples, a cheese stick, a hard boiled egg, or beef jerky. Take along fresh water to stay hydrated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>3. Game night meal<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you need something more substantial, a whole wheat sandwich with turkey, mustard and lettuce will do the trick. Create a scrumptious pizza by using a low carb tortilla topped with cheese, onions, a few olives and broil to perfeciton.
