Achilles tendinitis can also occur after increasing the intensity or duration of your running workouts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When left untreated, you run the risk of rupturing your Achilles tendons. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If it is torn, surgery is typically required to repair it. Common symptoms include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dulling sensation in the lower leg above the heel<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swelling along the Achilles tendon<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Limited range of motion when flexing the foot towards the shin<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Warm sensation over tendon<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Actions Following Diagnosis<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All of these conditions can be diagnosed with a physical exam and possibly an X-ray as a follow-up to rule out other underlying conditions.
