Virtual Reality Can Transport You to Tranquility

Discover a new path to peacefulness using virtual reality (VR). Meditation is about improving your mental well-being. Adding a virtual reality component can reduce your anxiety and stress through a new experience.

What technology is required?

You need to purchase a virtual headset, a PC for gaming with a video card, and make sure you have a fast internet connection that will handle VR.

Prices for headsets can start as low as $29.99 and go up in price to over $2,000.00.

Meditation choices are abundant

Calm your mind by picking from over a hundred different environments. You can place yourself near a crystal blue waterfall, or a red rock canyon, float in space, or zone out with a sunset.

If you are short on time you can pick from a quick session at 2 minutes or chill longer with a 20 minute one.

Types of guided programs include flow, breathing exercises, Zen, compassion, nature walks, and yoga. Escape with relaxing ambient sounds, music, or flowing water that play throughout your session.

Research is finding benefits of VR

Even though VR has been available for several years, research is still being completed. A virtual reality study from Australia explained  that “Participants described the user experience as relaxing, calming, and peaceful.”

“Participants suggested that the use of VR helped them to focus on the present moment by using visual and auditory elements of VR as attentional anchors.”

Another study had similar results. A pilot study completed in 2017 in Spain found that the participants “reported increased improvements in the state of mindfulness and reduction in negative emotional states.”

These researchers found that “After VR, participants reported significantly less sadness, anger, and anxiety, and reported being significantly more relaxed.”

Try out this immersive experience and see if it’s right for you.
