6 Dating Tips for Men Suggested by Women

The dating world isn’t what it used to be. Today’s dates are coordinated through apps, and may even include virtual dates as a result of the pandemic sweeping across the globe.

Whether you’re a dating veteran or a newbie, every guy can use a few pointers to up their game. Rather than offer generic dating advice or tips, there are suggestions from real women about dating in today’s society:

1. First impressions matter

Whether you chat over FaceTime or meet up for coffee, your first impression is important. Make an effort. Put some nicer clothes on, comb your hair, and take an active role in the conversation.

2. Ask questions

Yes, dating is about getting to know one another, but women don’t want you to dominate the conversation. Rather than talking about yourself, be sure to ask questions and take an interest in her life.

3. Don’t talk about your past relationships

There should be no talk of your ex. Period. You can start taking about old relationships once you’re in one, until then don’t talk about your broken heart, how you got dumped, or who she cheated on you with.

4. Turn off your phone

If you’re meeting in person, turn off your phone – or at least put it away. If you’re on a date, the person you’re with should be the focus.

5. Be honest about the second date

If the first date or meeting doesn’t go well, don’t say, “I’ll call you.” Be honest. No one likes a liar.

6. Forget about timetables to call or text

Don’t worry about texting or calling too soon, just do what feels right. While the movies or your buddies might tell you not to text too soon so you don’t seem desperate, it’s not a real thing. If you had a good time, say so – the sooner the better.
