1. Jeans are out
No matter the style or color, jeans are still not the choice for casual dress. Your best option is a pair of casual slacks or chinos that fit well. A gray woolen slack can look immaculate when paired with the correct pieces.
2. Seek out neutral colors
Tan, navy, black, gray, and white are attractive colors to wear for work. You can mix and match them with a casual blazer to look sharp for all of your early morning meetings.
3. A classic blazer shows authority
Purchase a blazer that is tailored to your body, not an oversized one or one that is too short in the arms. Pay to have it tailored to look credible. Neutral colors should be your color scheme.
4. Add dress shirts in traditional colors
Stand out in your office with button-down shirts in white, light pink, lavender, or blue. Keep simple patterns, not something flashy that will go out of style next week. Dress up a warm cardigan with your button-down underneath in cooler months.
5. Stylish shoes add status
Wearing dirty tennis shoes or flip-flops worn to work is unprofessional. Opt for a classier look with dress boots, oxfords, loafers, or chukkas. When tennis shoes are appropriate wear clean, neat leather ones.
