Signs of Diabetes Men Shouldn’t Ignore

Diabetes is a debilitating disease caused by the body’s inability to produce insulin. When blood sugar numbers run rampant, men with diabetes are more susceptible to a plethora of diseases including but not limited to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, foot problems, and vision problems.

Thirst

One of the number one signs of diabetes is an unquenchable thirst that comes out of the blue. This is known as polydipsia. When your blood sugar is too high, the kidneys need to work too hard to get rid of the extra sugar. Because of this, the kidneys will need more water to make more urine to get rid of it.

Urination

Speaking of urine, since your kidneys are working overtime to expel the extra sugars from your blood, you will find yourself going to the bathroom more frequently. This is a sign of diabetes that you should never ignore.

Fatigue

Although many people in the modern world feel tired at times, most of us can feel better after a good night’s sleep. 61% of people diagnosed with diabetes report feeling fatigue. If you get 8 hours of sleep at night but are still physically exhausted, this could be a bad sign.

Mood swings

With blood sugar numbers raging up and down, it is not unusual to have mood swings. Our moods are tied to blood sugar, and these highs and lows certainly affect the way we behave.

Vision problems

One important sign of diabetes is trouble with your eyes. Blurry vision, glaucoma, and cataracts can all be a sign of diabetes.

Taking care of diabetes at the outset is very important. If you experience these signs, seeking medical advice will either give you the peace of mind that you are okay, or set you on the path to treating diabetes.
