3 Keys to Finding the Right CrossFit Gym

CrossFit is a trend now and many people would like to try it but are intimidated by getting started.

One of the intimidation issues is finding a good gym.

Like with any fitness craze, some bad gyms seek to capitalize on the trend without actually helping you meet your fitness goals.

Some trainers care more about how they look doing the workout and keeping to a schedule than whether you “get it.”

Good gyms exist. You just have to find one. Here are some tips.

1. Look at photos or videos of a workout online.

You want a gym where there is a diverse group of people working out.

That means people of all sizes, tall, short, fat, thin, and at all fitness levels. Stay away from gym workouts that look too polished or where people look too perfect.

This tells you what the gym values.

2. Look at how they introduce you to the classes.

There should be a “fundamentals” program for newbies, although it may be called something else.

This is important for your safety. Anyone participating in CrossFit must know how the body moves and works.

A fundamentals program should be at least six classes and only have beginners in the class.

3. A good gym will post their workouts on their site.

Many gyms don’t want to do that, thinking their workouts are something special.

They aren’t. That is pure ego.

You want to see if the workouts are varied, something anyone can do, of reasonable intensity, and use the time to the fullest.

Conclusion

It doesn’t take long to sort out the good gyms from the bad ones.

The best part is you can do the weeding right from your computer by looking at their websites.

Once you narrow down your picks, take a tour of the gyms and meet the trainers to see if your personality clicks.
