How to Start Meditation in 5 Easy Steps

According to research, meditation has many benefits, including cognitive benefits and stress relief. 

The process of meditation starts with the physical body until you reach your mind, ego, intellect, and something more profound.

Meditation is such a mystery for many, but because studies show us that meditating has many benefits, maybe it is worth a try.

So here is a guide on how to start meditating in 5 easy steps. 

1. Find a suitable spot

Meditating requires space for you to relax uninterrupted, and the first step to meditation is finding the right spot.

The ideal spot should be free from disturbances. It should make you feel safe and comfy. 

Most people do it in their bedroom, so if that is the case for you, make sure you find a corner in your room where you can take your mind off things.

2. Sit comfortably

The next step is to sit in a comfortable position.

There are many positions like the lotus position, sitting on a cushion, and more.

It doesn’t matter which position you choose, as long as you are comfortable. 

3. Clear your mind

Meditation requires you to have a clear mind, so make sure you clear your mind and do not think about work, school, and other problems that may distract you. 

4. Don’t think

Now that you are sitting safe and comfy in your space with a clear mind, it’s time to start meditating.

Just sit and observe. Listen to what you are thinking and feeling, but do not engage.

Meditation is not about forgetting problems, it is about addressing them with the right mindset.  

5. Getting back to reality

If you were taken into a different state of mind due to deep thought, you must slowly transition into reality.

It can take 10 to 30 seconds to get back, and you will feel a lot better.
