What is Running Meditation?

You probably already know that running and meditation are essential for your mental and physical health?

However, what you probably did not know is that running and meditation can be one activity that can help you become a better runner.

It combines mindful meditation and running, and enables you to reap the benefits of each discipline.

It can help connect your mind and body and feel being in the present.

You can use it to clear your mind, or even become a more serious runner and join marathons one day and accomplish more in life.

Running and meditation is similar

Getting rid of distractions and being in the now.

These are the ideas that make running and meditation similar, which is why it makes more than enough sense that running meditation is a thing.

In a sense, both activities help you connect to your body while allowing your mind to focus.

Although running is a physical activity, it can be relaxing if you incorporate it with meditation with practice.

How to do running meditation

Set intention

The first step is to try meditating first and set your intention, whether it is to relax or just running with an open mind.

Just take some deep breaths and relax your body as much as possible before you head out.

Tune your breath

The next step is to tune your breath. Feel your breath while running and notice how the air rushes in and out of your nostrils.

After tuning your breath, you can now breathe fully– but do it as naturally as possible.

Run alone and focus on your breathing

Now, it’s time to control your thoughts.

You don’t have to empty your mind completely. Instead, you can notice your thoughts without judgment, and keep your focus on your breathing.
