Will Eating Organically Help Conception?

Many couples trying to get pregnant may be overlooking a doable solution.

Fertility experts suggest that switching to an organic diet can help you get pregnant.

One of the major reasons why organic food can help in conception is it doesn’t contain pesticides.

Studies suggest that those women who have trouble conceiving have a high intake of pesticides.

Women with the most pesticide intake reduced their chances of having a live birth by 26%.

There are as many as 2,000 synthetic chemicals that are legal to use in packaged foods, claims the Environmental Working Group.

Many of these chemicals interfere with hormone production.

Organic foods also have a high amount of antioxidants, which can help in overall health as well as conception.

Where to Start in Eating Organically?

Figuring out what’s organic and what isn’t can be complicated because of misleading food labels.

Experts suggest the place to start is eliminating the obvious.

Eat more fruits and vegetables over meat and more whole foods over processed foods.

This is known to improve fertility.

Reading Labels

Some packaged foods tout being organic but you need to look closely at the label. “Made with organic
ingredients” means the product contains at least 70% of organically produced products.

It can only say “organic” if all the ingredients are certified organic products.

Foods that have artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives and those that are genetically modified (GMO) can never be organic.

Organic Meat

The organic label on meat means the animals had a healthy environment with a certain amount of outdoor grazing occurring.

They were also fed a 100% organic diet and never were given hormones or antibiotics to spur growth.

Organic mean and dairy products have higher Omega-3 levels and a better balance of fats too.

Eating organic makes you overall healthier and can help with many areas, all of which contribute not only with conception but with delivering a healthy baby.
