CrossFit Workouts at Home

With the number of COVID cases on the rise, getting out to the gym can be a nerve racking experience. The good news is that CrossFit workouts are versatile and do not have to be done at the gym. Below we have compiled a list of CrossFit formats and places to find sample workout plans.

AMRAP

AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) is one the most popular CrossFit formats. In this workout type, there is a list of exercises with reps attached with a time limit. The goal is to do as many reps of the workout as possible in the time limit. This website has a great list of AMRAP workouts.

EMOM

EMOM (Every Minute on the Minute) is a newer workout type for CrossFit. This workout type has a list of 1 to 4 exercises with reps, that are to be completed within a minute. After the minute has passed, you will restart the workout again. The goal of this workout format is to finish the workout fast to have more time to rest before the next minute starts. Check out this website for more EMOM workouts.

Ladder

The name ladder is not an acronym like the other formats, instead this format tells you that you will be going up or down in repetitions.

Most set up the format like this:

Set 1

  • 1 Jumping Jack
  • 1 Squat

Set 2

  • 2 Jumping Jacks
  • 2 Squats

As the sets increased the reps increased. The other set up for a ladder will be the opposite, starting at a higher rep range and decreasing reps to 1.

Working out at home can be difficult with limited equipment and space, but the versatility of CrossFit can work around those potential issues. For a great overall workout experience, try creating a workout of all CrossFit formats.
