Grounding Relieves Anxiety

There are many anxious people in the world but some say that grounding using the four elements of water, air, fire and earth can help reduce fears and anxiousness.

Everyone has a “fight or flight” response but we can’t often utilize that with today’s problems. That inability, or loss of control, results in stress.

You can include the four elements in meditation or your daily routine to balance your mood, give you some control, and help relax you.

Water

Water makes for great relaxation whether you’re out on a lake, by the ocean or listening to a water fountain. Taking a bath has long been known to relax people so feel free to take a long one!

Include a small water feature in your meditation area, bedroom or office to help balance your mood during the day or night.

Air

Everyone needs to breathe. Deep breathing is included in mediation because it helps calm us.

Do the 4-6-8 count breathing for best results. That’s four seconds breathing in, holding it for six seconds, and exhaling over eight seconds.

Fire

Fire is associated with dreams, passion and imagination. Take some time to look at pictures of exotic places or maybe create a meal you’ve never tried before.

Use your meditation time to picture the kind of life you desire.

Earth

Earth is associated with rooting yourself and foundation. It’s firm and reliable.

You can connect to this feeling by trying meditation by sitting in a chair with your bare feet planted firmly on the floor.

Final Thoughts

Connecting to these four elements in meditation and in your life will bring some harmony and balance.

It will do more than that, it will connect you with some aspect of control over your life and that will reduce stress.
