How to Find Out if You Have Enough Sleep

Lack of sleep doesn’t give any positive results, it affects how you think and also your bodily functions. Sleep is the only tool that helps your mind and body recover from your exhausting daily routine.

A good 7 to 9 hours is the recommended time of sleep that you should be getting. Sleep deprivation may
result in health problems such as heart disease and erectile dysfunction.
But sleep is an intricate process, great sleep is not just about the number of hours.

There are stages to sleep that you can expect to cycle throughout the night. The crucial part of the sleep phase is the deep sleep stage because it is the cycle that is the most restorative. It is when the growth
hormone is produced and the chemicals in this hormone are also involved in recovery and youthfulness.

Deep sleep, also known as slow-wave sleep, strengthens our immune system, bones, and muscles, subsidizes other necessary bodily functions, and helps us recover from injuries.

How much sleep do you need?

There are factors such as alcohol and medication that affect sleep cycles. That’s why there is no definite
number for how much sleep is needed and it may vary from person to person.
Deep sleep is what makes us feel restored and refreshed the following day.

So if you don’t feel well rested the next day then you probably didn’t get enough deep sleep. And if you are getting 8 to 9 hours of sleep, expect to be more energetic. However, it needs to be consistent to feel the full benefits of having enough sleep.

What happens when you don’t get enough sleep?

If you don’t get enough sleep your body will not be able to recover from your day-to-day wear and tear. You’ll age faster and you will most likely be more vulnerable to illnesses.
