4 Common CrossFit Injuries to be Aware Of

CrossFit is an intense workout that has a ton of benefits to overall health and wellness.

However, because of its intensity, getting injured during CrossFit exercises is bound to happen if you are not careful.

Here are the 4 common CrossFit injuries you need to be aware of if you are doing CrossFit or thinking about doing CrossFit in the future:

1. Tennis elbow

Tennis elbow is a common injury that people can experience with training.

It is the strain on the joint that comes from the overuse of ligaments and tendons in the elbow, and if you are experiencing pain in the elbow area, you need to rest it and apply ice for 20 minutes every two hours
to reduce swelling and pain.

2. Anterior knee pain

The knees can be very vulnerable when doing CrossFit.

The pain can be associated because of overuse and strain.

If you are not careful, you might even experience something worse, such as knee dislocation.

If you experience knee pain, you should rest and avoid putting pressure on your knees, especially if you are experiencing pain.

For minor knee injuries, make sure to ice your knees and do stretches before working out to keep your knees limber.

3. Lower back pain

The CrossFit program can be very intense so it is normal to hurt your back due to overuse.

CrossFit involves a lot of lifting, bending, and jumping.

These movements can put your lower back at risk of getting injured, so when you feel pain in your lower back, you need rest before getting back to training.

If the pain is something you cannot handle, you might need to see a doctor.

4. Rotator cuff tendonitis

Heavy lifting is a significant part of the CrossFit program, and with that being said, the chances of
experiencing rotator cuff tendonitis are high.

If you do not want to experience this, stretch your shoulders regularly before doing heavy training activities, and always make sure you have enough rest.
