Running can be awesome but some days are better than others. There are just days you may not be feeling it. It may surprise you to know there are four simple things you can do to increase your motivation and make any run great.
1. Change your run time.
You may run every morning at a certain time. You’ve been doing it for ages but you just aren’t up for it this morning. Allow yourself the option to change your run time for a week or two. Running after work instead of before work may just be enough to ignite your love for running.
2. Pick a new place.
Running the same course every day may provide the routine you need but can make your run stale. Going to a different park or down a different road in your neighborhood can stimulate you mentally. That may be enough to motivate you to keep running rather than giving up.
3. Go slower.
You may have been running at a solid pace for some time and would feel guilty if you slow down. The problem is pushing yourself when you aren’t up for it can do more harm than good.
4. Stop running with a group.
You may be feeling some unwanted peer pressure to run at a certain speed or running on a rough path. It may simply be that you aren’t enjoying the group decision on when and how to run.
Running by yourself for a while may give you a new sense of freedom that can lead to you falling in love with running again.
There could be a lot of reasons you may not like running right now. Take an honest look at what you don’t like about it and make some changes. Just a few changes can bring a whole new running experience to you.
