Is Running Everyday Healthy?

Running can have many benefits, such as losing weight, keeping you fit, and having a healthy heart.

In fact, research tells us that running at least 5 to10 minutes a day will significantly reduce death from heart attack and stroke just make sure you maintain a moderate pace.

However, running intensely is another thing and doing it every day can cause injuries because your body will need to recover after an intense workout, including running.

Should I be running every day?

It depends. If you want to run every day, make sure you pace yourself and run for only 5 to 10 minutes to yield all the benefits without increasing the risks of injury.

Research tells us that running daily for 5 to 10 minutes will:

  • Reduce the risk of heart disease
  • Lower the risk of getting cancer
  • Reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
  • Lower the chances of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s

You can either run shorter times daily to get at least 2 and a half hours of running into your system or run only 5 days a week for 30 minutes, giving you two days of rest for your muscles to recover.

What are the risks of running every day?

Running daily may increase the risk of overuse injury, especially if you don’t pace yourself.

Too much physical activity too fast does not allow your body to adjust and can result in over fatigue and overloading of muscles.

Tips to reduce the risk of injuries when running daily

There may be risks when running every day, but here are some tips to reduce those said risks:
