Eating ONE meal a day is allegedly the best new diet out there

This extreme intermittent fasting weight loss diet is the latest trend. Looking at reviews basically, you don’t feel deprived of food, and you feel less urges to eat snacks throughout the day. This might take some getting used to, but if you get used to it, it could be a total game changer and not even feel like a diet!

Intermittent fasting is when you make sure you don’t eat (fast) for 16 hours in a row. Most people take away breakfast to achieve this, therefore, skipping a meal. It’s restrictive, but also isn’t that impossible to follow, especially if you don’t really feel hungry in the mornings anyway.
The OMAD diet takes this to the extreme. OMAD means one meal a day. Sounds crazy and impossible right? So instead of fasting for 16 hours a day, you fast for 23 hours every single day. Obviously, you consume a larger meal than you would if you ate 4-5 meals a day like most people.

The rules for this diet consist of:

  • Must eat in the same four hour time block every day
  • You CAN drink calorie-free beverages throughout the 23 hours. (Black coffee, water)
  • A dinner sized meal

The benefits of this diet consist of:

  • You don’t need to be crazy about counting the calories or macros for that one meal since it’s the only meal you are consuming for the day. Especially, if you keep it at the dinner size plate size (aka you can’t have 7 Big Macs from McDonald’s for your “one” meal).
  • You may not feel that after eating lunch at 2:30 slump. Why? You’re not eating lunch.
  • Almost impossible to be at a caloric surplus when you are just eating one meal a day.
  • It’s the freedom to eat what you want.

The bottom line, if you are feeling like intermittent fasting isn’t doing it for you, maybe take it up a notch and try OMAD. It’s shockingly not dangerous like you might think and can be extremely effective!
