Is It Easier to Get Pregnant in Winter?

Many studies exist on when is the optimum time to get pregnant. There have been studies of full moons, best months, temperature studies, and seasonal studies. So can women get pregnant easier during winter than in other seasons?

It would appear so.

Animals may do a lot of their mating in the spring but winter is good for humans. Below are a few reasons why winter is a good time to create a baby.

Cooler temperatures are good for sperm

Sperm thrive in cooler temperatures. That’s why men are told to avoid heat in the groin area when trying to conceive. Cooler temperatures lead to more sperm production and a better quality of sperm. All good for babies.

Testosterone high

Men’s testosterone levels peak in the fall so that makes late fall and early winter a great time to get pregnant. Those levels start dropping about mid-winter, so it’s best to get started earlier in the season.

Higher late-fall testosterone levels may be one reason why the number one day to conceive is Dec. 11. Testosterone continues to drop some throughout the rest of the year until it starts going into high production the next fall. That is the cycle that men go through and it’s pretty standard for all men regardless of age.

Women’s fertility

Research shows that women also tend to be more fertile in November and December, although there doesn’t seem to be an explanation. All they know is that it happens. The phenomenon is shown in birth patterns with babies born nine months later.

Conclusion

Winter has its benefits when it comes to getting pregnant. You’re indoors more. It’s cold and you can cozy up to a fireplace. You can have romantic dinners. It can be the right time to set the mood. Biology is on your side so make the most of winter fertility.
