CrossFit Winter Workouts

CrossFit is known for incorporating movements from daily life into its WODs (workout daily). You may not realize it but it can help you do your winter chores better too.

The purpose of these workouts is to help people live a more quality life longer and independently. You can do that by building up muscle to be more effective in daily life activities. Here are some CrossFit movements that can help you in winter.

Snowblower pull

A workout on a rowing machine helps you yank that snowblower cord a little stronger and better. That could mean it starts faster and you get done faster. You are using the same muscles in both movements.

Snowblower push

A CrossFit movement called the plate push builds the same muscles you need for pushing the snowblower up and down the driveway. In this movement, you are low to the ground pushing a device called a plate with your hands while your legs are doing a type of climbing move. It’s similar to pushing a snowblower uphill.

Winter planting

Air squats prepare you for a lot of low work you do in winter in your flower beds. You will spend some time planting bulbs, pansies and the like and air squats will enable you to get up and down with ease.

Gutter Cleaning

Some reaching exercises in CrossFit will help you doing things like gutter cleaning. This also helps in other
areas like reaching to put things on top of cabinets.

Conclusion

Those who want to remain active and independent may have to put a little more effort into maintaining
muscle and coordination. CrossFit is a good way to do both. It can also provide some social time during the worst of winter when no one is spending time chatting outside. Crossfit may be the winter exercise that keeps you in shape for spring clothes too.
