Is Having Regular Sex Good for Prostate Health?

Being diagnosed with an enlarged prostate or benign prostate enlargement (BPE) and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) can have many causes.

However, there are also many ways to prevent prostate cancer, and sex is definitely one.

A study determined that men who are sexually active in their 20s and 30s are less likely to get prostate cancer, LUTS, and BPE.

Aside from this study, much other research states that men who frequently ejaculated during their younger years have reduced risks of getting prostate cancer.

What is the between sex/ejaculation and prostate health?

Despite much research in the past and ongoing research, this theory remains controversial.

Although it is clear that men who ejaculate more frequently in one month have reduced risks of getting prostate cancer, the age when they ejaculate the most is quite unclear.

Am I at risk of getting prostate cancer?

Being one of the most common diseases that men get, you might be at risk.

Here is a list of more information to find out if you are at risk of contracting the disease:

  • Prostate cancer is more common with African American men
  • You are at risk if one of your relatives have had a history of the disease
  • Men at the ages of 50 and up are at greater risk
  • Obesity can also increase the risk of getting prostate cancer
  • Inactivity can also increase the risk
  • Taller men are more likely to develop BPE

Aside from these facts, having less sex in one month can also become a factor, as studies suggest, especially in young adulthood.

Conclusion

Although much research is needed to conclude that sex can help reduce the risks of getting cancer and
improve your prostate health, the little research we already have is already evident.

Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have regular sex for different reasons, as long as you and your partner practice safe sex.
