How to Dress for Rainy Runs

If you cannot miss a run because you want to maintain a workout schedule, you have to be prepared for rainy days.

Although running in the rain is not very safe, you can gear up to make sure you complete your daily running schedule and be safe while running on that slippery pavement.

Even marathons consider the weather conditions, which is why you need to get ready in case the rain might ruin your running schedule.

Whether you are joining a marathon or just running to stay fit, you need to have the right gear to run on rainy days.

Here are the pieces of gear you will need to start:

Hat with brim or visor

A hat with a visor will help keep the rain out of your eyes when running.

Getting rain in your eyes can be annoying, and it could stop your momentum.

If it gets cold, you can layer your hat with a beanie or wear ear warmers.

Shirt with wicking material

When running in the rain, it is essential to wear fitted clothes that wick instead of wearing cotton clothes that will absorb the water.

Wearing absorbent clothes will make the run harder for you because they can get heavy.

Make sure you wear dry-fit clothes, even when running on sunny days.

Shorts or leggings

Fitted shorts or leggings are the way to go when running in the rain.

Baggy clothing can lead to chafing so you need to avoid those.

Thin socks

Your feet will get wet when running in the rain, so it is best to go with fitted soaks to avoid getting them too soaked.

Reflectorized vest

If it gets too dark and you are running in the streets, it is a good safety measure to wear vests with reflectors to warn cars behind or ahead of you.

Rain jacket

A thin rain jacket is something you want to have in your arsenal.

Make sure it is not too bulky to ensure comfort when running.
