Date Night Ideas During Quarantine

COVID-19 has many people living, working, and parenting from the confines of their homes. For couples, this new normal is a big adjustment. Trying to figure out a new work-from-home schedule while homeschooling kids, making lunches, and handling a conference call isn’t easy.

And romance? Where does that fit in anymore? Finding five minutes of alone time is hard enough right now, let alone finding time for romance. Sixty-six percent of couples say their relationship lacks intimacy right now, according to Newsweek.

Still, it’s important to keep that spark alive. Truthfully, maintaining a healthy relationship required work long before COVID, it’s just that your efforts might look a little different now.

Date night ideas

Here are several isolated-but-fun date night ideas:

  • Movie night

You can still rent or buy movies online from several different TV apps like Hulu or Amazon. Pick a flick, (maybe a romantic comedy), pop some popcorn, and see where the night takes you.

  • Game night

Break out the board games or the deck of cards. Consider having wine delivered and enjoy a fun night of games.

  • Backyard stargazing

Plan to spend a little time under the stars. This is a great option for parents with kids. Once they’re asleep, sneak outside with a blanket and a few snacks and do some snuggling in the moonlight.

  • Kind gestures

Sometimes all it takes to get someone in a playful, sexy mood is to make a kind gesture. Pick some wildflowers on your next walk, surprise your partner with an outdoor picnic, write a love note, or print your favorite pictures of the two of you. These small, kind gestures can bring back that loving feeling.

Connecting during COVID might be a little more difficult since so much has changed, but it’s not impossible. It’s all about making time for each other.
